Congratulations!
Hudson River Center just completed Parenting Education. This training package, supported with Even Start Family Literacy funding from the New York State Education Department, was produced in collaboration with the Even Start Parenting Education Workgroup.
Research-based and pragmatic, Parenting Education teaches family literacy professionals how to:
- foster key parenting behaviors that contribute to children’s language, literacy, and academic development.
- improve parents’ sense of efficacy. ("I can make a difference in my child’s life!")
- plan, and consistently assess, parenting education using the Parent Education Profile.
Congratulations to Kay Peavey, Kyle Kidder, and Patricia King for bringing this package to completion. Congratulations also go out to Mary Haust and Marci Manberg, consultants to Hudson River Center, and Janie Hyland from Eastern Wayne County Even Start.

- Foundations in Family Literacy is now available at various locations across the state. This training is designed to provide family literacy practitioners the foundation needed to fully understand comprehensive family literacy. Sponsored by the New York State Alliance for Family Literacy and New York State Education Department, the training is based on the National Center for Family Literacy's model.
