HRCPD's national award-winning Health Promotion for Adult Literacy Students: An Empowering Approach is a multi-technology curriculum designed for the adult education classroom. Recognizing that a person's state of well being directly affects the ability to work, learn, and have a productive life, the New York State Education Department funded this initiative focusing on health promotion and disease prevention. Adult students learn positive behaviors that enable them to manage their responsibilities to their families, to their employers, and to themselves.
This curriculum and staff development package was designed to cater to both individual and group work, and hence, can be used in adult basic education programs, family literacy initiatives, life skills programs, etc. The package includes:
Linking Health with Literacy introduces the entire series, demonstrates how to use it, and shares other educators' thoughts on good health and literacy.

Each topic in the series is presented on audiocassettes, which are used in conjunction with the student workbooks. The narrator of the tapes pauses at appropriate intervals for students to complete corresponding activities in the workbooks.
