Examples of Recruitment Strategies
- extend face-to-face invitations during home visits, at agency gatherings, on the street, in laundromats, at preschool programs
- hold gatherings to introduce Even Start Family Literacy (provide food appropriate to culture, interpreters, and a craft to engage adults while "slipping" program information into agenda
- place native language brochures/flyers in community agencies, schools, hospitals and other health providers, places of business (e.g., supermarkets)
- entice potential participants with "gimmicks," such as books for children, craft supplies, free food, free clothing, arranged transportation
- run advertisements in local newspapers and cable stations
- establish a Parent Networking Process (equip participants with flyers to distribute)
- distribute flyers through the mail or on the street
- set up a referral process with local agencies
