Sample Program Coordinator Responsibilities
establish short- and long-range program goals
design, develop, and maintain -- with assistance from the partnership -- high-quality programming in all four components
direct Even Start Family Literacy staff in delivering services
coordinate integrated planning among collaborators and staff
provide and manage program budget, prepare fiscal reports, prepare amendments
participate in required national, state, and regional conferences and meetings
convene and work with advisory council and/or management team
develop and maintain current policy and procedures for the program
be accountable to partnership agencies
be responsible for program inventory
serve as liaison to New York State Education Department
maintain all documentation and record keeping forms
meet regularly with immediate supervisor
develop/obtain instructional materials
oversee and/or write the new grant proposal for Even Start Family Literacy and other relevant grants
supervise, plan, and coordinate family educators/staff
observe instruction in all components and work with staff to maintain high quality
support staff in pursuing professional development
provide ongoing professional development for staff, either personally or by contract
attend relevant in-service training and professional development
establish protocol for all project activities
coordinate case loads, family assignments, and scheduling
foster a team approach among staff to achieve excellence
conduct staff meetings
review individual family plans
visit families and observe integrated home-based instruction
identify and help recruit eligible families
identify needs of children and families
address barriers to participation (e.g., transportation, child care)
Promote and Maintain Collaboration
communicate and coordinate with collaborating programs
serve as liaison between partnering agencies
communicate regularly with program directors
facilitate development of quality family literacy programming in the county/area
establish and maintain relationships with county service agencies
oversee the collection and entering of data into ES-Star on a monthly basis
review data for completeness and accuracy
analyze data and consider changes for continuous improvement
work closely with local evaluator to construct and conduct local evaluation
complete all reports and evaluations for partnership
prepare annual documentation of continued funding for New York State Education Department
provide promotional material
prepare and make presentations to community agencies, organizations, and school districts
